Both my parents happened to be on leave today. So today after my driving lessons at 10.10am, they came to Ubi to pick me up. And since all the cars' showrooms were just nearby, my dad suggested we go visit the showrooms. Yipee!
1st stop Honda's showroom. We went straight to look at the Honda City that I was thinking of buying. Quite satisfied with what we saw until my dad asked the salesman for the price, then our mouth open big, big. Wah lau eh! About $60,000! It's so expensive! (Actually I know the price liao but with parents must play-act a bit mah.) So my dad asked for the salesman's namecard then quickly whisked us away from the showroom.
2nd stop Subaru's showroom. My parents were very impressed with the Impreza that I was interested in. The only 2 let-downs were that the back passengers' legroom space is quite "compact" and the car's ceiling is actually quite short lor. This means that I can only let "giants" sit in my impreza. The damn good thing about this car is that the price lor! The salesman quoted us $49,988 and he confirmed that the car comes directly from Japan! My parents were close to drooling in the showroom, and I have do the whisking this time. Parents! (Shake head....)
3rd stop Chevrolet's showroom. The salesman tone turned kind of icy when he heard we are just checking out the cars and we are not buying yet. The cars we viewed were quite good lor. But the salesman, maybe due to us not patronising him, refuse to give any discounts / freebies when we asked him lor. Too bad for him then.
4th stop Toyota's showroom. Apparently, the only manual car left is the Vios. No more Yaris liao. And the Vios are selling like hot-cakes (or is it hot-cars?). Anyway, there's only 2 colours left lor. Frankly, I'm not interested in Vios lor. I'm learning Vios now, so I've literally test-driven Vios many times liao. The car is quite good but the torque is just not up to my comfort lor. Anyway, I read on the net Toyota Japan is no longer manufacturing Vios, this means the stock that Toyota S'pore is selling is like the storeroom's stock lor. Not sure if it's true though.
5th stop Suzuki's showroom. It took us some time to find the showroom. Found it just when we drove pass the showroom. Kannasai! We had to make a big turn to go back to the showroom. Anyway the saleswoman who serve us impressed my parents on the qualities and goodness of the Swift Sports (Hmm....or were they impressed by her beauty?) Then my mum opened the back passenger's door and nearly freak-out. If the Subaru's back legroom is compact, this suzuki's back legroom is a joke. Wah lau eh! For who to sit man! So packed!
So during the lunch break, I asked my parents for their choice of the cars. I have to listen to their advice cuz they are sponsoring 10K each. As for the reason for the sponsorship, it's another story to be given on another day. Their verdict was: Subaru Impreza! Die die must buy! So cheap! I asked my mum, "But you said the back was very cramped wat?" And my mum answered, "Ya I said that. But that was before I saw the Suzuki one. The Subaru looks spacious after that." So it looks like I may most probably be buying the Subaru. Sigh! No choice! Minority shareholders leh! I dun wan to be sue under S216 of the Company Act.
