Random Ramblings

I called Fad today to "chio" her to makan dinner in SIM b'cuz she told me her lesson starts at the end of July. And guess what she said? She now tell me her lessons starts next week. Kannasai! Next week is early August liao lah, not end of July. Maths so poor, how to pass your degree in maths. hehehe 8)

On another matter, I'm beginning to get a bit pissed off with the noises generated by my classmates during lectures. 50% - 70% of them talk during lectures, despite requests by the lecturers to quieten down. They totally ignore the lecturers lor. Very rude leh! I mean I'm also not a saint lah, I also do talk during lectures but my talking duration usually don't last for more than 5 minutes as I also want to listen to what the lecturers are saying. These 50% - 70% can talk for like the whole lecture duration (3 hours). Chow Turtle! Stamina so good! Like that how am I going to pay attention? Are you people here to study or not? If not just stay home lah since all the notes have already been given out, why come if you are not going to listen. You are wasting your time, the lecturers' time and, worst or all, my time! You pariyah! You are all already adult liao, where's your maturity? Still need the lecturers to bring cane to class, is it? Grow up can or not? At least have the courtesy to move out of the LT and talk lah. After tea break dun come in also can, since you are not going to be listening. If you want to talk in the LT, at least keep it to a short duration lah. 5 mins maybe, 3 hours is really too extreme liao.

I know! I sound very teacher here but I really very pissed off with the pariyah talkers liao. They really too overboard and immature. Sometime I wonder if they have experience puberty already or not.

Strange SMSes

For the past weeks, I had been receiving strange smses, about twice a week, from the same hp no. The timings of the smses were really weird. They were received around 6.30+ in the mornings. For goodness sake! I'm still Zzzz-ing in my room. I normally don't wake up till around 11am after I have left my previous job. The messages is always the same and it goes something like this "Are you coming back to school?" Made me very puzzled when I read them. Which school is that person referring to? YPS? SIM? The best part was that the sender's hp no. looks suspiciously like the hp no of that guy who took over my class. Gave me a fright for a while. Wondered what he was up to. Did he send the messages by mistake? Or was it a boliao joke sent by that BMW. But on 2nd thought both of them were eliminated from my suspect list lor. 1stly, that guy who took over my class if can't be making that mistake lor. Reason 1, my hair is short. Reason 2, my surname not see. Reason 3, I don't speak A1 chinese. Based on these reasons, he can't possibly sms wrongly wan lor. As for that boliao BMW, I remembered he should be busy "sakah-ing" a certain important person at that time lor. So he where got time to sms me.

Thus I was quite puzzled lor. Then today finally that sender sms me again (in the afternoon). So I took the opportunity to sms that person to identify himself or herself lor. The sender turned out to be my ex-student (3C 2007), Sabrina. She wants to know when I'm coming back to school lor. She sms she had been thinking of me since I left lor. She sms she missed me lor. She sms everyday she can't sleep cuz she missed me very much. Damn touching sia! Eyes wet wet when I read the messages. See I very good teacher leh! After leaving I still got pupils missing me. Lousy teacher no pupils will even miss wan lor. Remembered for their lousiness, yes, but definitely not being missed by pupils wan lor. So I took it as a sign that I good lah. Wau lau! By now at least give a bit of applause lah! Don't just sit there?!! So those "pariyah" sluts who said I wasn't performing at all last year, please kindly go to the zoo and feed yourselves to the tigers and may your spirit get BBQ eternally in the abyss. Sorry digressed a bit. Anyway, this is not the first time I heard I'm missed lor. I'm tutoring 2 of my ex-pupils and they had been "faithfully" reporting to me the happenings that occur in school. And a lot of times "who and who misses u" were reported to me lor. Wah! Felt like I have a fan club formed in YPS. Hahaha 8D Looks like my lollipop rewards works!!

Anyway given that I'm "so missed" I decided to visit them on children day's eve lor. Sms that Sabrina liao. I know she will help spread the "good news". Thought of returning on Tr day's eve too but was a bit afraid my "fans" will give me more gifts than their present FT. Then like that he very pai sei wan lor. (secretly of cuz will hope is this way lah. hahaha!) Also another reason was I heard from my "spys" that the whole class hate their current FT lor. I'm a bit afraid a relapse of last year Tr day disaster will occur again lor. Since I'm no longer in the service, I shall now say out loud what happened last year. Every year on the Tr Day's eve, the FT will be announced ,class by class, to go on stage to receive a school prepared token of appreciation from the their form class monitors. What happened last year was that 4C had a change in FTs in June as their previous FT, Sewage Water Pipe, had to go for a 6 month course. And for some "god knows why" reasons, 4C didn't like that new FT. So that day when their new FT's name was called, the whole class boo-ed her. The new FT was so dramatised that she rushed to the toilet and broke down in there. Poor thing! And the punishment for that class was the whole class was suspended from lessons for close to a month. i.e. they still come to school but they can't go up for lesson. Stupid punishment, I say! Expel the "fire-starters" and suspend the rest from school for a week enough liao. Suspend lesson for a month damn Der lor. SA coming, 1 month no lesson too extreme liao. Only a certain "duck-sound vehicle" will give out such absurd punishment. And on a side note, it was noted that SWP always have the ability to generate very problematic classes wan lor. Her class always transform from a guai-guai class into a "no other teacher except SWP can handle" class lor. And this occur yearly. There must be something no right somewhere. In 4C last year, were 6 of my guai-guai kids from my P3D class of previous year. (1 was even my monitress) Imagine my shock cum horror to know that they were the boo-ers and had to be suspended. What have SWP done to my kids man!

So given this past experience, I was kind of afraid that history will repeat itself lor and I returned to see the whole class been punished like last year 4C. So I had asked HKK to discretely monitored the class lor. Quite scared lor. Not sure if the new guy will plead with the management for leniency or not if history really repeats itself. I know I will lor if I'm still in the school. Reason 1, they are just kids lar. There's no need to be too harsh with them. Counsel them can liao. Reason 2, if they boo-ed me, I will be disappointed lah but then I won't take it to heart wan lor. I can use this opportunity to show them that despite they not liking me, I'll still stand up for them wan lor. So I'll plead for them lor, maybe even in front of them (good chance to wayang and win back their trust) or the whole school if need be. I'm not a sage but I feel that this is what a good teacher should be doing lor, fight for the benefits of your form class.

Ok, Cheng Yi and Audrey, how? Can? Interesting enough?

Update of recent events

Been procrastinating about updating my blog for 2 reasons. 1st reason, my own PC went on strike again so I've to sent for repair. Since it's not back yet, I've been sneaking into my brother's room to "secretly" use his PC. 2nd reason, quite busy with my tutorial works and my readings. Wau lau can die man! Read and read still can't finish. Worst, the readings (especially the law texts) have the tendency to put me to sleep.

And guess what. I got my own cliche in SIM liao. So happy! (put some eyemo in eyes) See! I'm so happy that tears came down my face. Hahaha! I have joined 1 of the Ngee Ann chiches. 1 of the questions, they asked me was what's my age? Cause I look very young. (smugging from ear to ear) Heard that smurf, they said I young leh. But it turned out I am way older than them. See smurf! quiting can make you young. It works better than your SK2. Hehehe

Ok! Got to get back to doing my "young-look" maintenance. Bye.

Luna Lovegood Rules!!!!

I was teaching tuition when my "very understanding" younger brother called me numerous time on my mobile. I've turned my mobile to the silent mode before the commencement of my teaching but the numerous vibrations were kind of irritating. They were kind of near a certain part of the body you know. I didn't pick up my mobile then as I was in the midst of my lesson. I returned the call to my brother after the lesson after I got out of my student's house, having a mind to "gently scream" at him for the "irritations". He told me he have to "irritate" me as he was booking online tickets for the Harry Potter movie and he wanted to know if I in or out and the tickets were going fast. Kannasai! Now then ask me, should have ask me at 6am in the morning mah. Why so late then ask me? Anyway, I said I was in lor. And we all adjourned to Cineleisure to catch the movie at 10+ pm.

Verdict: I didn't read the HP books so I can't really say if the movie is authentic or not. But I've been following the characters summary on the HP fansites and I'm really impressed with the actress for Luna Lovegood. She totally rocks man!!! She is just as the summary described. Serene, pretty and quirky. I like! But there's one thing I don't like about this movie. I thought the feel of the scenario where the kiss between HP and Cho happened was kind of strange. I mean I know and can see that they like each other. But I thought when people "conduct CPR" on one another they will at least having been dating for a while. I don't know about the book but in the movie they really didn't seems to have dated lor. I mean just by teaching your fellow schoolmate and classmates lessons, you can kiss liao meh. I thought was a bit fake lor. Like that I kanna kiss don't know how many time liao. Wait!! Kannasai! It just occured to me I have been shortchanged! Chio bu's you all owe me a kiss!!!!

Just Follow "Law"

I went for my S'pore Company Law lecture today. The lecturer is from Australia but he got Welsh background so his "angmoh" pronunciation has a very strange ending sound. I could also hear that he pronunciation is very nasal. And for some weird reason, his pitch would suddenly squeak without warning. This subject is already quite dry, plus his unique accent, Wau lau, I almost wanted to die "law". It took me a while to understand his "angmoh". Even then there's were parts when I really have no idea what was he talking about. At break time, I could overheard people behind me commenting that they caught no ball what he was talking about. Sigh! This is going to be very "law" semester "law". 8) But to give the lecturer some credit, he can make very good imitation of American English (AmE) and British English (BE) and I understood him better when he went into his AmE mode.

Oh yeah! Didn't see my "fantasy" chiobu today. Wondered where she went? 8)

Updates after Makan session

Just came back from a makan session with princess, general and "small" master. Interesting session. On top of witnessing general get whacked (really whacked kind) by small master during the session, I've also heard a lot of updates about things happening in YPS since I left. Felt kind of "heng" that I got out fast before all these crap started. But is feeling kind of worry for small master and H.C. They are currently been victimised by the clan as all the prospective scapegoats had already left the sch or service. Poor thing! As a precautionary measure, it's best they quickly get out of this place before they get slauthered further. And I dare to bet my head that when they leave, the newbies will be the next victim. And when I said newbies, I'm referring to those newbies that joined the sch since jun 2006 and those who joined this year. These newbies are in a precarious position. Unless they joined the clan, they can forget about their promotion and easy life after their 1st year in this school. Look at what happen to TT and me. For these newbies, my advice to you are can transfer, transfer. Cannot transfer, stick / lick / carry / worship / stay close to HKK. For example of how to do so observe BMW. Learn from BMW. Observe and repeat what BMW do. HKK maybe the only one who can save you, though she also have some flaw, but HKK is the best defender against the clan if you are victimised. Only problem is you got to do things HKK's way strictly to the letter or else HKK won't defend you. 8)

Analysis of cliches in SIM

After attending lectures at SIM for 3 days, I've finally completed my very own analysis of the cliches in the lecture theatre. (Yes! I know I'm being boliao, ok.) Based on my very "professional" analysis, I have found there to be 5 category of cliches in my cohort.

The 1st category are those just-ORD groups. They are very easily to spot as they, 98% of the time, will be wearing NS-related T-shirts and/or talking and/or reminiscing about their "glory" days in Thailand and Brunei. I was kind of tempted to approached them to talk about my remaining few high-keys (1 hand can count liao) and my trip to Wallaby in 2003.

The 2nd category will be the just-graduated from poly groups. This group are usually made up of girls (though not exclusively). They are the brunch that just graduated from the local polys. And they are normally the most vocal during breaks and, if you sway, during lectures (gossiping). In day 1, I overheard there's a girl in this group that is currently working as a relief sec school teacher in her previous sec school. I could overheard her today complaining about the difficulties in controlling her class during the break. Been there! Done that! Conquer them! I was kind of tempted to approached her to impart my "wisdom" in controlling her class. But then I thought I better keep my mouth to myself due to 2 reasons. Reason #1, I'm not friend-friend with her. Reason #2, I was a pri sch teacher, not sec sch teacher, I've learnt a bit on how to handle sec sch kids in NIE (but not much) so I can explain the teenager's mentality to her but I can't give her any constructive class management skills for her class. Plus she may not buy my advice, given that I was an ex-pr sch teacher.

The 3rd category will be the 2nd year SIM-RMIT groups. This group formed about 30% - 40 % of my cohort. Their groups went through their 1st year together thus their cliche are very well-organised (delegation of duties for collecting and learning materials were observed.)

The 4th category, which formed not more than 10% - 15% of my cohort, will be the working adults with at least 1 year of working experience. They are normally the last few to enter the lecture theatre since they have to rush down from their workplace. I really take my hats off them as we have lessons till 10pm and it will be about 10 plus before they can reached home. Very shiok life lor! I really 'hormat' them.

The 5th category, and also the last category, kannasai group. This group normally consists of people who are very nerdy and are not working and are always able to find/give the correct answers in class and are usually able to pick up the lesson faster than rest. And a very interesting phenomenon can be observed around this group. For some reason, at least 2 seats on this group's left and right will be unoccupied. Till date, scientists are still studying this phenomenon and they still can't find a solution to this. Oh yeah! Did I tell you so far there is only one member in this group. There's me! Sit nearer to me leh! I promise I won't bite, swallow maybe, but definitely not bite! 8)

Update on my SIM Chio Bu

Went to school (SIM) today. Was eager to see that chio bu again. Was looking (discreetly) high and low for her but alas, didn't saw her till after the break. I didn't realised that she was sitting just 2 rows behind me. Kannasai man I! But didn't have a chance to talk to her, as it was at end of the break then I saw her. Plus by then she had a "tall, dark, handsome" guy who was talking to her and sitting next to her throughout the whole lecture. She waved at me though. This means she still remembered me from yesterday. (grin) And since they are sitting 2 rows behind me, I could heard the guy explain the lecture points to her lor. From a trained professional's point of view, his explanation was kind of kannasai lor. (Trust me. I've the teaching diploma to prove!) I mean he explain and explain but the girl still seems to have problem getting it. (From what I overheard.) Yesterday when I tutored her, she understood the lecture after I explained a few sentences. Don't play play ah I! But too bad lor. Didn't see her till after break so got 'potong jalan' by other guy liao lah. And from what I what I observed and overheard, I think they're un a couple lor. So maybe still got 0.00001% chance lah I. But I think that guy is going to make sure he sit next to the girl tomorrow also lor. Sigh! 8(

My 1st day as a student

Today mark the first day I return to school as a student in SIM. I graduated from Ngee Ann Poly in 2000. So it has been like 7 years since I actually studied accounts lor. I was a bit afraid that I can't follow the lecture lor. If that happens, then I really "siao liao". I'll have to "campfire" (burn midnight oil) almost every night until I can catch up. Fortunately after today's lecture, it wasn't too bad lor. Still was able to understand the lecturer despite forgetting the meaning of some accounting terms. Must make a note to self to go find out what they means before the next lecture (i.e. tomorrow). Sigh......

Anyway, today brought back a couple of poly memories to me. For your info, to get to school (SIM & NP) during peak hours, squeezing into the bus at the bus-stop next to the Clementi MRT station is a 'must' in order not to be late for school. Kind of forgotten about that as I've not waited for a bus there since I graduated. So I was a bit stunned when I saw the crowding of people when the bus 184 reached the bus-stop. It was complete chaos. I've to used my long forgotten "Ah Nick's Squeeze into a Bus" skill to get into the bus.

Also, my class was made up of about 70% female lor. So you can say I'm in a course filled with babes. I've to admit some of my class-mates are kind of chio lor, but I'm here to study leh, must focus....must focus...... And 80% of these girls are kind of young. I've overheard a group of girls comparing their age and one of them is 12 years my junior! Feel like an uncle leh! So embarrassed that I pretended I didn't hear them and I continue to read my lecture notes. (I didn't eavesdrop, they were sitting behind me and you know lah, when girls chattered, they can be damn loud volume wan lor. So their conversation content naturally flowed into my ears.)

During the lecture, we were given a textbook question to work on. The lecturer prepared some photocopies of the question for those who didn't bring their textbook today. But it wasn't enough to go around, despite request for triple-sharing, because 95% of the class didn't bring their textbooks. I was one of the "special" 5% who lugged my textbook from Tampines to Clementi. So imagine my good fortune when one of the chio bu, C, sitting at the same row as me, approached me to ask if I mind share my book with her. Of course I'm willing to share with her! God Bless my Textbook! And to think that I was 'cursing' myself in the afternoon, on my way to school, for lugging my textbook to school when it seems unlikely that the book will be used today. I'm going to kiss it & lug it to school everyday from now on.

One incident happened to me before the lecture started today. I was early today. My lecture starts at 7pm but I reached SIM at 6pm. After my dinner and roaming around the campus, I entered the lecture theatre at about 6.40pm. Few minutes later, a lady, W, (no, she's not chio bu) came and sat at the seat in front of me. Imagine my amazement when W suddenly turned around and invited me to join her for the group assignment that we are supposed to submit. I was amazed for 3 reasons. Reason 1, her abrupt turning around caught me by surprise lor. Reason 2, the 1st lesson haven't even started yet (it was 6.45pm then) and she is thinking of the group assignment. Sound kiasu to me lor. Reason 3, the deadline isn't given yet (notes stated deadline will be informed). Very kaisu lor! I know we should start early but not that early lah! I repeat again 1st lecture havn't start yet! Anyway, I agreed to join her lor. Lazy to go hunt for people to work with mah. From my observation, there're couples of cliches around. I know it won't be easy to break into their cliche. Anyway, given W's kiasu-ness, I'm quite sure our assignment will be punctual and of a passable grade lor as long as I can withstand her kiasu-ness. Thinking of asking that C to join in too. Will try my luck tomorrow. Wish me good luck. 8)
